FISHING NET CANOPY

A monumental 47-meter wide functional installation inspired by billowing fishing nets, blending structural steel with tensile membranes to create an open, rhythmic shelter.

SCROLL

FISHING NET CANOPY

Strategically positioned along the Ningbo Cultural and Creative Port waterfront, "Fishing Net Canopy" is a masterful integration of structural rationalism and natural poetry. Inspired by the undulating waves of the Yongjiang River and the traditional imagery of fishing nets, this massive 47-meter installation features a wave-like steel grid roof supported by umbrella-shaped pillars. The combination of white fluorocarbon-coated steel and high-performance tensile membranes creates a translucent interface that filters sunlight, casting dynamic shadows that evolve throughout the day. Beyond its visual impact, the canopy provides a crucial "gray space" for citizens to rest and socialize, shielded from the elements. This project serves as a premier example of revitalizing industrial heritage sites by transforming a transit corridor into a vibrant, breathable urban living room.
