A sustainable 3.2-meter kinetic installation that utilizes natural river breezes to simulate the rhythmic movement of a swimming fish swarm through mirror-polished stainless steel.

SCROLL

FISH SWARM 1 - KINETIC DEVICE

Set against the urban skyline of the Ningbo Cultural and Creative Port, "Fish Swarm 1" is a dynamic dialogue between industrial heritage and the natural elements. Crafted from premium 316L mirror-polished stainless steel, the installation consists of two distinct kinetic structures: a radial array of mirror discs and a spiral arrangement of fish-shaped blades. These components are connected via high-precision bearings, allowing them to rotate fluidly with the slightest wind from the Yongjiang River. As they move, the mirrored surfaces catch and scatter sunlight, mimicking the shimmering effect of fish navigating the currents. This eco-friendly installation requires no external power, embodying a philosophy of sustainable public art while honoring Ningbo’s maritime history through a contemporary, bionic lens.
